Perkasa Secretary-General Syed Hassan Ali, in making the allegation, did not name the bank, but described it as a government-linked company (GLC).
He told a press conference today that a group of employees from the information technology department of the company met him last month to complain about the situation. “From what they told me, the company has intentions to minimise the number of Malay employees,” he said.
He said one of the methods used to remove employees was to give low marks on their key performance index (KPI). “Those who performed fairly previously were given low marks this time around,” he said. “Because of their low grades, they are pressured to leave.
“Some were even given an early retirement scheme as a method to chase them out of the company.”
He said the IT department was dominated by non-Malays at the management level.
Syed Hassan urged the government to intervene.
He said Perkasa would conduct a roundtable discussion on the matter in two weeks’ time. “We will invite the relevant parties to come and discuss this pressing issue. We will then present a resolution to the government.”
