I was not looking as if it would rain today, therefore I decided just to ride my bike to Komtar today. I took the bridge instead of the ferry. Started just approaching lunch time, the traffic wasn't too bad and I kind of flew with my kapcai all the way through.
I remembered paying the toll, and the all of a sudden, I realized that I have not been routinely driving on the bridge for a very long time.
Those were the days when I commute through the bridge to go to work. I was a man of position. I was a man of power and drive. The work place was just a match box with a community size of just over 2000. I felt strong and powerful enough to drive my influence. All in the name of inventory management and supply chain. Well, I drove inventory lower. It was from USD39.5million down to USD9million, over a little more than a year. With that, I made name among corporate directors and won a number of certificates and bonuses. The presence of ex-pats around me was clear enough to confuse many of the employees, they thought I was an american. That was funny. Well those were the days, until I decided to join Dell. I had asked advice from easily 40 friends of mine, everyone said yes, go...but not Kak Rohaya, she said no. Well, I go by the majority..funny enough, what she said was true. I decided to leave Dell only after 8 months of work.
But most importantly, I followed part of the trail of someone, who has been travelling up and down the bridge a number of times in a week. After 30 years of not seeing one another, I felt close...very close
